Cost per 100 km: the simple formula

Cost per 100 km = (kWh used per 100 km) × (price per kWh). For example, a car using 16 kWh per 100 km at 30 cents per kWh costs A$4.80 per 100 km. The numbers here are an illustration only. Use your own car's consumption and your own tariff.

Home charging

For FBT purposes the ATO has a shortcut EV home charging rate (5.47 cents per km in its 2026–27 example). Public charging

Prices vary by network, speed, time and membership. Always check the live price on the network's own site or app.
